Clinton’s Campaign Catholic Bigotry is Appalling and Unacceptable

Fr. Pavone Asks Catholic Priests, Laity to Call on
Mrs. Clinton to Denounce Anti-Catholic Bigotry

NEW YORK – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today called on Catholic priests and deacons and lay parishioners to urge Hillary Clinton to apologize for and fire staff members who expressed anti-Catholic views in emails recently exposed by Wikileaks.

“It’s one thing to disagree with Church teaching on abortion and other matters,” said Fr. Pavone. “It’s quite another to form organizations to try to subvert Church doctrine and to insult and demean those who adhere to it. The bigotry revealed by current Clinton campaign leaders in those emails is both appalling and unacceptable.”

Emails released by the Wikileaks organization show that Clinton campaign head John Podesta helped organize liberal groups to attack Catholic teaching. They also show exchanges between Jennifer Palmieri, now the communications director for the Clinton campaign, and John Halpin, a fellow at the Center for American Progress, in which people who convert to Catholicism are portrayed as insincere and conservative doctrines of the Church are called a “bastardization of the faith.”

“Priests for Life has asked Catholic priests and deacons around the country to call on Mrs. Clinton to apologize for these insulting and demeaning remarks about Catholics and to fire those who made them,” Fr. Pavone stated. “We have seen this approach before in reference to the Catholic Church, all the way back to Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who founded the abortion industry and said he and his colleagues knew that the Church was their biggest obstacle and had a sophisticated strategy to blunt the Church’s influence.”

“We have also seen Mrs. Clinton assert (at the 2015 Women in the World Summit that religious beliefs need to be changed in order to advance women’s rights, and we at Priests for Life have had to fight all the way to the Supreme Court for our right to live out our faith against the HHS mandate. The religious freedom of Christians is in danger, and the attitudes and actions revealed in these emails do not help,” Fr. Pavone concluded.

Poor catechesis and a lack of strong sermons from the pulpit on abortion, sexuality and family, have resulted in many Catholics being poorly informed about their faith.
The “my right to choose” and “born that way” myths have resulted in weak people who call themselves Catholic without really understanding what their faith teaches on these important issues.

John Podesta is a graduate of Georgetown Law Shool and a visiting professor there. It seems this so-called Jesuit University has fallen far away from Catholic teachings!

I love Fr. Pavone; however, with all honesty, I wouldn’t believe a word Mrs. Clinton says even if she were to apologize and denounce anti-Catholic bigotry. I pray Mrs. Clinton experiences the exorcism she needs and comes to the Faith. I also pray she experiences the biggest loss ever in a Presidential election for her over 30 years of deceit. Finally, I pray that someone holds the Catholics such as Podesta and Palmieri (et al) responsible for the damage to countless souls and their Bishops, Archbishops, Cardinals, Priests, Chancellors (et al) who by their silence or consent should, too, be held accountable for the damage to countless souls.

  • I think it is a disgrace for Hillary Clinton not to immediately apologize to all Catholics. It seems to me that the devil is deeply imbedded in their ranks. When are Catholics going to wake up? Priests and Deacons need to speak up now!!!! Not just ask for an apology. Are you kidding? What kind of spineless Catholic Christian organization are you running?

True Catholics are Pro-Life and Pro-family because we are, first of all, Pro-God!! Thank you, Father Pavone, for standing up to the outrageous attacks our Church and the faithful are enduring. It is about time we all let Mrs. Clinton and her campaign organizers know that we, Americans, have the right to live our faith in freedom and not be stigmatized for our beliefs. God bless you! +
